In addition to IAATO members, representatives of the Antarctic Treaty Parties and Maritime Rescue Coordination Centers (MRCCs) will be invited. The workshop is intended to discuss issues pertaining to search and rescue in the Antarctic Treaty area, and anticipates discussions at ATCM XXXVI in Brussels, Belgium precipitated by a US proposal at the last ATCM for Improved Coordination of Maritime, Aeronautical and Land-Based Search and Rescue (SAR). The US proposal calls for a special SAR working group session the day prior to the commencement of ATCM XXXVI.
