Workshop - Friday, 01 May

HALF-DAY WORKSHOP:  Training the Trainer -  Emergency Exercise Planning
Facilitated workshop on the principles and best practices for training emergency responders
(Open to all Meeting participants)

Within all walks of our membership's businesses, there is value in running emergency exercises. These exercises can vary in scale from the smaller groups (yacht operator, field staff teams, small businesses) to large-scale (larger companies, joint exercises, etc.)

Supporting IAATO's mission of safe and environmentally responsible private sector travel to the Antarctic, this workshop is suitable for all participants whether working in the field or in the home office, whether at sea or deep field, or whether you work in a small team of only a few people, or a larger multi-layered team.

This workshop will aim to give participants the necessary knowledge and skills to design and deliver exercises that will validate their emergency plans and train their own teams back  ‘at home'.

Expected Outcomes
This fun, interactive workshop will be facilitated by two highly experienced emergency planners, Joe Pearson and Jon Gunn, MBE, of A2ZResilienceLink to PDF

On completion of the workshop participants will be able to:

1. Understand the principles of training, testing and exercising emergency plans;
2. Identify the different types of exercises that can be used to exercise emergency plans;
3. Be familiar with the arrangements required to build an exercise control for multi agency exercises; and
4. Introduce the principles of debriefing exercises and understand pitfalls relating to the role of the facilitator.

Kings Day - 27 April

The King's official birthday (King's Day, Koningsdag) in the Netherlands is celebrated each year with parties, street markets, concerts and special events for the royal family. It is also an opportunity for "orange madness" or oranje gekte, for the national colour, when the normally strait-laced Dutch let down their hair, often dyed orange for the occasion.  More information can be found here.
