The International Association of Antarctica Tour Operators is hiring!
The membership association is seeking an events manager to contribute to the delivery of its mission to advocate and promote the practice of safe and environmentally responsible travel to Antarctica.
The successful candidate will work with the IAATO Secretariat in planning and developing international in-person and virtual meetings and events.
Janeen Haase, IAATO Director of Governance and Finance said: “Meetings are an intrinsic part of our ability to realise IAATO’s mission. The success of our meetings is dependent on the excellence of our team, so we’re looking for someone talented and dynamic for this role.”
The successful candidate will be a motivated self-starter with excellent English written and oral communication and strong interpersonal skills. Familiarity with polar field-travel, especially Antarctic tourism is desirable, but not essential.
In addition, the Events Manager will enhance event promotion and communications via internal communications channels, social media and the IAATO website, to ensure maximum engagement.
Since its inception, IAATO has taken a proactive role in managing tourism within the Antarctic environment, working within the framework of the Antarctic Treaty System to help visitors have an enriching experience, while having no more than a minor or transitory impact on the region.
IAATO meets several times a year; a mixture of in-person and online gatherings, during which policies and procedures are enhanced and agreed.
