
Coira Williams
Coira Williams joined IAATO in 2025. As the Data Assistant, she is responsible for helping maintain the mainframe Database and the data it holds, a crucial component of IAATO’s daily operations.
Coira is a lifelong polar history and science nerd. She is also passionate about information literacy, and the management and organisation of scientific information. Prior to joining IAATO she was a research assistant for an intertidal monitoring endeavour in the San Juan Islands with Friday Harbor Labs, The Nature Conservancy and Black in Marine Science. Her areas of expertise include the history of polar science and elasmobranch, cetacean and pinniped biology.
In December of 2024, Coira received a cum laude bachelor’s degree in art history and Coastal and Marine Science from Mount Holyoke College. In her free time, she enjoys reading about shipwrecks and maritime history, feminist organising, making comics and editing and fact-checking Wikipedia. Coira lives in metropolitan Washington, DC.
