Field Operations

Field Operations Committee The Field Operations Committee (FOC) supports the secretariat in managing field operations. This includes reviewing site guidelines for both existing sites that already have approval under the Antarctic Treaty System (ATS) or IAATO Guidelines, as well as addressing other matters related to field operations and field staff. Their responsibilities encompass standards and training, and they provide feedback and advice as requested and in a timely manner.

The Field Operations Committee has two subcommittees:

Field Staff Subcommittee

The Field Staff Subcommittee operates under the direction of the Field Operations Committee (FOC). Its objective is to discuss operational considerations, protocols, and tools from the perspective of those active in the field, enhancing practical application scenarios.

Helicopter Subcommittee

Our Helicopter Subcommittee establishes guidelines, coordinates helicopter activities within IAATO, and provides essential safety information to Antarctic Treaty Parties and National Antarctic Programs.
