UK Antarctic Heritage Trust (UKAHT)

Founded in the UK in 1993, UKAHT is a charity dedicated to preserving British heritage on the Antarctic Peninsula and telling the remarkable stories of human endeavour in Antarctica. Our aim is for more people to explore why Antarctica matters to us all, and to help current and future generations discover, understand, value and protect this precious wilderness. We operate Port Lockroy each Antarctic season, welcoming visitors and sharing the unique story of the first British wintering station in Antarctica. We conserve five other historic sites in Antarctica which together tell a story of exploration, science and human endeavour and are time capsule of an important period in Antarctica’s history. In the UK we deliver a vibrant cultural and educational programme to inspire people to explore Antarctica and its remarkable stories.
